Air compressors are devices that compress and pressurize air. This process is made possible through motors or engines. Those are meant to provide compressed air for tools that are commonly used in home construction and maintenance, however, are brought powered by electricity. There are various reasons why people use air compressors. These are used to fill up gas cylinders, to supply air to submerged equipment or divers, or to provide power to pneumatic tools. It is clear that air compressors are of vital importance to a number of tools and, because of this, these should be powerful enough and of good quality.
Makita Air Compressor - At a Glance
Makita is one of the leading manufacturers of air compressors in the world. At the moment it has four different models of air compressors and each of these have its own distinct characteristics. Each of the said compressors also have can be used for various power tools. In fact, these are designed particularly to meet the requirements of Makita power tools that are pneumatic. The following are the four models of Makita air compressors:

Features, Pros and Cons
The AC310H air compressor from Makita has the capability of producing 400 PSI. With such high level of PSI, this is particularly meant for power tools, such as nailers. In fact, the design includes a pair of universal couplers for conventional nailers, which requires 3.6 CFM at 90 PSI, as well as another pair of couplers meant for high pressure nailers, which require 2.7 CFM at 300 PSI. Air compressors often have problems with tripped breakers and voltage drops, which occur during startups.
Makita AC310H, however, has a low amp draw, which decreases such cases. This air compressor also has a four-pole induction motor, which greatly increases the effectiveness of the device while maintaining its durability. With its design primarily meant for nailers though. This device may have some limitations when used for other pneumatic tools. See below video to see AC310H used in a complete system along with Makita nailers:
At first glance, one would immediately get the impression that Makita’s MAC2400 is very durable. This impression is brought about by the fact that this device has a cast iron pump. The big bore cylinder and piston which are part of the pump are meant to guarantee fast recovery time as well as better performance. The pump is designed to run at a much lower RMP and because of this the device has a lower noise too, a preference of those who need to work as silently as possible. The air intake undergoes a certain degree of purification brought about by the automotive style industrial filter. Making the motor well protected from overheating is a built-in thermal overload control mechanism. The MAC2400 has so many advantages. There is barely any negative aspect about it.
This Makita air compressor has most of the positive features that can be found in the MAC2400. However, aside from these, it also has more, which makes the MAC5200 a more improved version. Among the features that make it distinctive is the very powerful 3 HP motor. This has the capability of producing 6.5 CFM at 90 PSI. Aside from this, the machine also has a folding handle, making it convenient to move around.
Storing it is easy because of its low profile design. There are also tool hangers on the device itself. This allows the user to store the tools along with the air compressor when not in use. Another important feature meant to guarantee better heat dissipation is the finned discharge tubing. When it comes to maintenance, this device has the advantage. It has an oil drain right at the front of the pump which makes access quite convenient.
Among Makita air compressors, the MAC700 is relatively average when it comes to performance. Its 2 HP motor produces 3.3 CFM at 90 PSI. The lower power can already produce less noise but its pump is also designed to run a lower RPM, which reduces further the noise of the device when in use. The roll-bar handle makes this air compressor quite portable. The roll-bar is also a mechanism that adds protection to the device. One particular distinctive feature though is its oil sight glass. This makes it possible for the operator to maintain the device better because he can be constantly aware of the level of the oil. The oil-lubricated pump ensures that the running temperatures are lower and also minimizes wear and tear.
Other Users’ Views
Makita compressors are highly respected by other users. They are also very popular. Just as an example Makita MAC700 has over 300 reviews on Amazon at the time of writing and the average rating is 4.5 out of 5 stars! We think that there is no need for further words.
